Same circle. Native A8 angle first.
One complete turn is 512 A8 units = 1000₈. Native A8 is the working ruler here. Legacy degrees remain available below as a source-reference and translation bridge.
Native A8 angle
Start on the native ruler. Stored whole-turn phase states run from 0–511 decimal, or 000₈–777₈. The next state completes the recurrence at 1000₈ and returns to 000₈.

360-degree ruler
This value is the legacy translation of the native A8 state. It does not define the A8 ruler.
Legacy source → native A8
Use this bridge when an observation, archive or familiar reference arrives in conventional degrees. The source value is translated exactly by the fixed ruler relationship; no server conversion service is required.
360-degree ruler
Compatibility input only. Conventional source records may use degrees and other legacy angular encodings before translation.
512-unit full turn
Octal is primary. Fractional octal digits preserve precision below one whole A8 angular unit. The 512-unit turn is not a 512-position precision limit.
A8 angle = legacy degrees × 64/45
Legacy degrees = A8 angle × 45/64.
A8 ruler landmarks
Exact translation relationship
This relationship emerged independently from the selected A8 circle and A8 day subdivisions:
Interpretation: this is an architectural consequence of 512 angle units/turn and 32×64 minutes/day. It is worth documenting, but it is not evidence that Nature itself uses our numeral system.
Legacy translation examples
Some conventional angles translate cleanly because the two rulers share factors. Others become deliberately awkward. We preserve both; no cherry-picking.
Geometry · π is unchanged
π is not defined by degrees. It is the dimensionless ratio of circumference to diameter:
π = C / D
Changing the angular ruler from a 360-part turn to a 512-part turn changes neither the circle nor this ratio.
A8 does not create a new π. The geometry stays fixed; only the angular ruler and numeral notation change.
Geometry · radius and arc relationships
Let θ be an A8 angular amount on a full turn of 1000₈ = 512 A8 units.
Geometry · circle invariants
A8 changes angular labels, not Euclidean circle geometry, trigonometry, or π.
Observatory translation boundary
When a future astrometry adapter encounters a standard angular quantity, it will keep the original source value intact, cross this translation wall with the exact 64/45 scale, and retain enough fractional octal precision for the observation.
